Master the Rapids at the Whitewater Center

In 2006, a little piece of nature was built about 30 minutes from uptown Charlotte NC. Right off of the Catawba River, this 1,100-acre whitewater center is perfect for anyone that enjoys being outdoors and active. There are over 25 miles of hiking trails that the whole family can partake in! Water activities including rafting, kayaking, paddle boarding as well as rope climbing, zip lines, and mountain biking. 

When you arrive to the Whitewater center, you are greeted by a beautiful entrance and modern buildings, one of which is a restaurant and another is an outdoor sports store where you will find most any type of sport equipment and the latest gear that is sure to match the most adventurist sport! Once you arrive to the complex, you will see the breathtaking rivers just yards in front of you. The area is surrounded by lots of trees and rich green grass, which will make for a very relaxing afternoon.

The main attraction at this gorgeous complex is obviously the river rapids. You are able to take a one-of-a-kind trip down different sized rapids with a professional guide. This is a great experience to take your family and friends. There are a various categories and classes of rapids and each has age requirements. For family rafting and whitewater kayaking, you have to be at least 8 years old, Adventure rafting the minimum age is 11, Whitewater Sup the age is 12 and up and for Rodeo rafting everyone has to be over 16 years old due to the difficulty of these rapids. Whether you have previous rafting experience or not, you will leave feeling like a master of the rapids.
