The Charlotte Knights are a Triple-A affiliate baseball team of the Chicago White Sox and have brought baseball back to Charlotte. Historically, the first professional baseball team in the city started in 1901 as the original Charlotte Hornets but left in 1937 to become the Washington Senators, now the Minnesota Twins. It was not until the 2014 season that Charlotte saw baseball again. Throughout the later part of the 20th century, The Charlotte Knights went through many affiliate changes and were not associated with the Chicago White Sox until 1998 and still played in the Fort Mill, South Carolina stadium nearly 20 miles from the city of Charlotte. Currently many homes for sale in Charlotte NC are available. It was not until 2011 that the City Council voted to move the Knights to their current center-city location. And in 2014, the team moved into the new BB&T Ballpark located just two blocks over from the Panther's Bank of America Stadium on South Mint Street.
