Growing up on Lake Norman By: Logan Yates

Hi, my name is Logan Yates and I would like to share with you some of my awesome experiences on Lake Norman. Lake Norman is an amazing place to live, work, and play, but at my age, I mostly play.  I have lived on the lake for over 14 years and have never run out of fun and exciting activities to do. Over many fun years on the lake, I have learned how to ski, wakeboard, windsurf, knee board, wake surf, paddleboard, kayak, drive a jet ski, tube, jump humongous waves, and much much more. 

Living on the lake isn't just something you do, it's a lifestyle that takes you down never ending roads of happiness and healthiness. There is no better feeling than waking up on a beautiful summer day and looking upon the calm, clear, blue lake, and knowing that every day of your life will feel like a never ending vacation. 

To some people, enjoying the lake means going out and buying $250,000 boats (yes there are plenty of those) and $20,000 jets skis (those too), but really all you need is a pool noodle and a hat and you are ready to go!

When I was 7 years old I started knee boarding, followed by wake boarding then windsurfing. The winds on Lake Norman can be aggressive at times, making it a perfect day for wind surfing across miles of open channels. I get a blast out of this sport, but it can be a bit more challenging than other water sports. Windsurfing at top speeds most often depends on how powerful the winds are blowing, which direction , and the size of the waves. 

Tubing is an all time favorite, but I'm just chilling out for now as it's been a long day on the lake. I have lots of friends over today and we tubed for hours, so we're taking a break under the gazebo. We're getting ready jump of the dock and to go swimming to cool off again.
