If you want to spend as much time on the water as you can, Lake Norman State Park also provides access for boating, fishing and swimming. Pedal boats, paddle boards, canoes and kayaks are available to rent at the visitor center on Park Lake and privately owned boats and other watercrafts can be launched on the public boat dock area on Boat Launch Drive for free. If you love to fish, you can find crappie, bluegill, perch, catfish and striped, largemouth and spotted bass. Bring the kids to the south area of the park at the end of State Park Road for a splash in the lake on a 125-yard-long sandy beach area, and a yummy snack at the concession stand.
