Charlotte's Light Rail System

The Charlotte region’s first light rail service, the LYNX Blue Line, is currently under construction that will successfully extend from 7th street station in the Center City through the NoDA and University areas.  This 9.3 mile, $1.2 billion light-rail project is approximately two years away from opening and providing access to new parts of the city of Charlotte. The LYNX Blue Line is 9.6 miles long and has 15 stations that include stops at seven park and ride locations.  This light rail provides Charlotte residents with congestion free commute with a consistent travel time.   It operates seven days a week, and service is available every 10 minutes during weekday rush hour and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours.  The current extension on the light will provide Charlotte residents a different transportation choice and alternative to steer clear from the city’s traffic congestion.
